About units

Rheumatology is one of the therapeutic areas in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic diseases, diseases of the connective tissues, and joints. The main feature of rheumatological diseases is that it is very difficult to diagnose because the symptoms very often coincide with some infectious and oncological diseases ones. To provide the correct differential diagnostics and finally diagnose is the most important task of a rheumatologist.

When to visit a rheumatologist?

Usually, patients rarely visit a rheumatologist, because the symptoms can be similar to diseases with which they can ask to other specialists: a family doctor or therapist, a neurologist, a cardiologist, etc.

You need the consultation of rheumatologist if the following symptoms are:

  • pain in the limbs, neck, spine;
  • visual changes in the limbs (deformities);
  • limited joint mobility;
  • swelling, redness of the upper and lower extremities (inflammation);
  • pain when pressing on problem areas;
  • increased body temperature;
  • pain in the heart;
  • arrhythmia;
  • increased urination (kidney failure);
  • weakness;
  • crunching in the limbs and/or neck.

If some of these symptoms have occurred, your doctor can suspect a rheumatologic disease and will recommend visiting a rheumatologist.

During the consultation, the rheumatologist will:

  • collect complaints and study a medical history (including lifestyle, diet, bad habits, previous illnesses in anamnesis, heredity);
  • examine problem areas and zones for pathological changes in the area of joints and skin;
  • measure blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, determine body mass index;
  • preliminary diagnose and prescribe symptomatic treatment (to relieve pain);
  • if necessary, prescribe additional research methods;
  • upon confirmation of the diagnosis, prescribe treatment.

Doctors of the Healthy&Happy Medical Center serve patients with the following rheumatological diseases:

  • osteoarthritis, osteoarthritis;
  • arthrosis;
  • osteoporosis;
  • arthritis (rheumatoid and reactive);
  • systemic connective tissue diseases;
  • systemic vasculitis;
  • gout;
  • bursitis,
  • periarteritis;
  • ankylosing spondylitis.

In the diagnosis of rheumatological diseases, an examination of the patient by a doctor is very important. During the examination, a rheumatologist checks the visual condition:

  • joints for redness, deformity, and swelling;
  • skin, including on the head;
  • mucous membranes.

Your doctor may suggest doing simple exercises to get information about functional disorders in the joints. In addition, laboratory and instrumental studies are used to provide differential diagnostics.

Laboratory diagnostics:

  • general and biochemical blood test;
  • urine analysis;
  • rheumatological panel;
  • bacterial research.

Instrumental diagnostics:

  • ultrasound test (including echocardiography);
  • X-ray;
  • electrocardiography (ECG).

Doctors-rheumatologists at Healthy&Happy Medical Center use modern techniques to detect cause-and-effect attitudes to accurately diagnose. Unfortunately, most rheumatologic diseases are chronic. But if the disease is detected in the early stages, it can be prevented before the disability. In addition, the treatment will provide an opportunity to develop a complex of measures to obtain a stable remission.

The complex of therapeutic measures consists of:

  • medication treatment;
  • physiotherapy procedures, namely: laser therapy, magnetic therapy, diadynamic therapy (DDT), shock wave therapy;
  • therapeutic massages;
  • physiotherapy exercises.

For patients with rheumatological diseases, there are opportunities to receive a rehabilitation course at the Center for Vertebrology, Rehabilitation, and Psychosomatics at Healthy&Happy MC (Volodymyrska) to restore the functions of the joints and spine, as well as to restore their mobility.
