About units

Neurological pathologies and diseases are very common in the modern world. Stress, tension, lack of physical activity or excessive ones, a sedentary lifestyle – these are just a few factors that affect the functioning of the nervous system and cause disturbances in its work.

The task of the neuropathologist is to find the cause of the disorders using various diagnostic methods and to select a complex of measures to eliminate them.

Most often, it is needed to visit the neuropathologist if the following problems are:

  • headache, migraine;
  • intervertebral hernias and protrusions;
  • consequences of insults (strokes);
  • neuritis of the facial and trigeminal nerves, neuralgia;
  • osteochondrosis;
  • sleep disturbance, anxiety;
  • consequences of closed craniocerebral trauma;
  • dizziness, loss of consciousness (collapse);
  • muscle cramps;
  • impaired coordination of movements, impaired memory;
  • neuroinfections (for example, after tick bites, herpes).

At the Healthy&Happy Medical Center, experienced neuropathologists will detect and treat the causes of diseases using modern diagnostic methods and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Diagnostics at the Department of Neurology at Healthy&Happy Medical Center

At the Healthy&Happy Medical Center, patients with neurological problems can get a complete examination using modern equipment of an expert class to accurately diagnose.

In neurology, the following diagnostic methods are most often used:

  • doppler ultrasonography of the head and neck vessels;
  • electroencephalography (EEG);
  • X-ray;
  • electrocardiography.

More…

Doppler ultrasonography of the head and neck vessels allows doctors to detect the blood flow velocity in the studied vessel and to identify factors that impair blood circulation.

Using Doppler ultrasound, we can:

  • to detect abnormalities in vascular development (“vertebral artery syndrome”);
  • to identify arteries’ stenosis (blockage of the lumen);
  • to determine the status of the vascular walls (impair of elastic properties, hypertonicity, hypotension);
  • to determine the condition of arteries and venous blood flow of the neck, head, upper and lower extremities, as well as their patency, stenosis, varicose veins, thrombosis, atherosclerotic lesions, etc.

Doppler ultrasonography does not use radiation, the procedure is painless and safe and has no harmful effects on the body. The diagnostic procedure can be performed at own will, without a doctor’s prescription, no special preparation is required.

Doppler ultrasonography will be prescribed if the patient complains of:

  • frequent headaches, migraines;
  • dizziness, flies before the eyes;
  • heaviness and swelling in the legs, periodic loss of consciousness;
  • overweight;
  • numbness of the limbs;
  • hypertonic disease;
  • violation of blood circulation in the arms and legs.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is aimed at the assessment of the brain structures morphological features, as well the dynamics of the cerebral cortex functioning, the nature and degree of the brain impairment, identify focuses of damage after strokes and their location, and determine the degree of interaction between various brain structures.
Also, EEG is prescribed to assess the effectiveness of treatment.

EEG is performed by a neurologist prescription.

Most often, the procedure is prescribed if the patient complains of:

  • convulsions;
  • loss of consciousness;
  • dizziness;
  • frequent headaches and migraines;
  • pain in the cervical spine.

The diagnostic procedure is recommended in the post-stroke period, after traumatic brain injury, with chronic anxiety, depression, neuroses, panic attacks, as well as with sleep or memory disorders.

EEG requires special preparation:

  • if the patient is permanently under medication, he must inform the doctor who will diagnose it in advance. For the accuracy of the results, he can cancel the medication on the eve of the EEG;
  • 12 hours before the examination, it is necessary to avoid chocolate, alcohol, and drinks with caffeine;
  • to ensure better contact of the electrodes with the skin, the procedure is performed on cleanly washed hair. Oils, gels, foams, varnishes should not be applied to the hair before the test;
  • 2 hours before the EEG, you need to eat (the procedure is not performed on an empty stomach, since the feeling of hunger affects the objectivity of the brain data);
  • to be calm immediately before the procedure.

Raentgenography allows us to obtain objective data on traumatic lesions of the spine and brain, as well as to assess the nature of the disease, identify changes (osteochondrosis, spondylosis, neck injuries, etc.), benign and malignant neoplasms, anomalies and malformations.

Raentgenography is performed only a doctor’s prescription and will be recorded in medical history. X-rays are not recommended for pregnant women, and for children, only if the doctor considers it appropriate.

No special preparation is needed for X-ray (you only need to empty the intestine if the test concerns the lumbar spine).

Some cardiovascular diseases have similar symptoms to neurological pathologies. Therefore, to examine the status of the cardiovascular system and identify pathologies, electrocardiography, or ECG with exercise is prescribed. ECG allows doctors to exclude the suspicion of heart disease with pain in the thoracic spine.
Electrocardiography is performed 2 hours after a meal; just before the procedure, you need to rest for 10-15 minutes to achieve a calm state. The procedure is provided by a doctor’s prescription only.

Treatment of neurological diseases at the Healthy & Happy Medical Center

At the Healthy&Happy Medical Center, neuropathologists use complex modern methods of treatment and restoration of body functions, namely:

  • drug treatment, including blockade;
  • occupational therapy;
  • reflexology (acupuncture);
  • manual therapy (including massages);
  • medical gymnastics;
  • shock wave therapy;
  • physiotherapy.

A significant role in the treatment of neurological diseases at the Healthy&Happy Medical Center is played by the patented method using kinesiotaping.
The method allows effective treatment of both acquired and congenital diseases of the musculoskeletal system. It is part of the complex treatment and restoration of body functions after injuries and surgery invasion.

This method is based on applications, which are carried out with special elastic patches (kinesiotapes), to stabilize the muscles, joints, ligaments, blood circulation, to relieve the exacerbations in osteochondrosis as well to stimulate the body to recover.

Kinesiotherapy is effective in treating the following diseases and conditions:

  • back pain (cervical, thoracic, lumbar);
  • headaches;
  • osteochondrosis;
  • muscle failure;
  • muscle spasm;
  • instability of the vertebral segments;
  • herniated intervertebral discs, protrusion;
  • compression-ischemic neuropathies (“tunnel syndrome” – pain in the groin area, spreading to the inner surface of the thigh).

In the Healthy&Happy Medical Center, each patient, by doctor’s prescription, can use a room specially equipped for medical gymnastics. The complex of exercises for recovery or rehabilitation is elaborated individually and performed under the supervision of a doctor.

We also stimulate muscles with special methods that allow us to eliminate spasms and restore their normal operation, to work even with small and deep muscles. As a result, exertion on the nerve is eliminated, which ensures the pain-relieving, ligaments become elastic, as well, motor activity to the joints is recovered.
